Heart failure is a common and extremely severe end-stage cardiovascular disease that affects over 60 million people worldwide. Currently, there are over 10 million heart failure patients in China alone, making it a significant health concern. Heart failure is characterized by its severity, difficulty in treatment, and high mortality rate. It is often referred to as the "last fortress" in the field of cardiovascular diseases and represents the final battleground.

The latest heart failure management guidelines released by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in 2021 and the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) in 2022 provide comprehensive recommendations for clinical physicians, covering everything from heart failure prevention to diagnosis and management.

This Heart Failure Forum focuses on the guidelines, combining foundational knowledge with the latest advancements. It adopts a comprehensive approach to heart failure management, emphasizing standardized diagnosis and treatment. The forum addresses various aspects of heart failure, including new definitions and classifications, requirements for guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for different types of heart failure, the development and clinical application of novel drugs and devices, and more. Additionally, in response to the latest guidelines, the forum emphasizes the decisive significance of elevated filling pressure, particularly in the diagnosis of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and explores standardized assessment methods for increased filling pressure.

The forum also pays special attention to updates on the diagnosis and treatment recommendations for cardiac amyloidosis and advances in diagnostic technologies for cardiomyopathies.

The establishment of heart failure centers nationwide has greatly facilitated the implementation of relevant guidelines and the promotion of standardized diagnosis and treatment. This forum has received strong support from the National Cardiovascular Disease Management Capability Assessment and Improvement Project (CDQI). It invites renowned experts from national standardized heart failure centers to deliver lectures and engage in discussions. The forum aims to serve as a platform for communication and exploration, guiding heart failure centers at all levels of medical institutions and improving the overall level of heart failure management.

Broadening horizons through extensive and in-depth learning and finding new directions for progress are essential for every cardiovascular physician with a proactive mindset. It is hoped that the deep exchanges at this conference will provide cardiovascular disease doctors with the concepts and foundations for standardized heart failure diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management, and contribute to the advancement of the industry.
